Who am I?
My name is Edmond Gentry. I’m an IT guy.

Hobbies, hobbies
I like everything that is related to information technology. Computers, radio electronics, programming etc. This is my hobby and my main source of income.

I love the nature. It’s always a joy to get out somewhere in the fresh air, in a place where nature pleases with its beauty and at the same time take a photo for Instagram

Sometimes I’m happy to do something with my own hands. It doesn’t matter if it’s soldering something with a soldering iron or doing something around the apartment. It all helps to switch my brain to something else unrelated to work. Sometimes it’s good to reset the brain.

I’m into the history of old computers and consoles. Old consoles and retrogaming is a separate very interesting topic for me. It’s a good thing to find an old console that doesn’t work, restore it and play with it. I already have quite a few consoles

I’m also a bit of a blogger (when I have the time). I’ve got a text blog and a YouTube channel

My life in IT
Even in my student years I began to work as a systems administrator. It was a time when in the country was a time of Dial-up Internet and local networks with access to the Internet began en masse. It was with this kind of Internet provider that my experience began. With this I got a good hands on experience in networking and Linux.

After that I worked as a system administrator in an office. That gave me a little bit of a different experience. All in all, I was a systems administrator for about four years. Then I realized that I learned very little new stuff and decided to learn some programming. My choice was PHP and web development. I was studying it all by myself. I mastered Joomla CMS and made a few orders on it.

Then I tried my hand at the position of a PHP developer at MobiDev. I got it. I still work at this company, currently in the PHP Group Leader position. I grew up as a specialist in this company, all the time learning something new and developing along with the company. At this point, I don’t write much code anymore. I now have a slightly different tasks and I know a lot more than just PHP alone. I have a lot of development experience and have grown over time into many roles within the company. I’m a PHP Group Leader, Solution Architect, and Pre-Sale Expert.

My experience in systems administration helps me in development. I’m still excited about Linux and OpenSource. I often use them in my solutions. I also love to explore new technologies and develop my skills. I try to stick to the following in development:

Write clean code that is resistant to change and scaling
Learn new technologies and develop my skills
Use OpenSource technologies
