PROTOVISION - Enhanced Newcomer

Welcome, Newcomer, to the island. An island of prisoners - and Neil has just arrived. He is a NEWCOMER. Why is he here? Confusion, distorted images... jealousy! Now he can remember something - his wife and some bastard, with whom she cheated him - he had killed both. Not anything mattered to him afterwards, he was arrested and then... All of a sudden his thoughts were torn, and there was nothing but emptiness... And now he is lying here.

This is how the fantastic new adventure/roleplay for the Commodore 64 begins - Newcomer. 10 years of development, 14 disc sides, an extensive intro and a sheer endless amount of carefully handpixeled graphics. A gaming-engine that allows numerous actions and interactions adds into the bargain. In other words: There has never been anything comparable for the C64. PROTOVISION presents NEWCOMER, a game by Cinematic Intuitive Dynamix. In the year of 2001 wonders still have its place on earth.

Newcomer is complex, and so there are countless activity possibilities you won't find in any other games. Let us give you a tiny example of possible actions - be it also hints for the game!

Find someone to teach you how to unlock doors
Choose your clothing or disguise, if necessary
Learn to persuade people for further cooperation
Follow a trace in the sand
Dig up valuable items
Climb mountains
Capture weapons, amunition and other items, utilize them - or sell them
Talk to the the other inhabitants of the island to collect information
Gamble so that you become rich - or poor
Fight against those who make tough the life of a Newcomer

The game is controlled through a simple keyboard set. Implementing functionality, Neil and every of his team members have a number of so-called Experience Points. Being victorious over a riddle or an enemy gives EXP. These can be used to acquire certain skills from a decent trainer (that you have to find first of all). Neil for example is good in handling pistols, he doesn't know anything about automated weaponry, though. But with enough EXP he can acquire knowledge in that field aswell, making the "SKILL-level" increase. Detailed information about the skills, like the range and effectivity of the weapons, can be found in the manual! You will receive 7 (seven!) 5,25"-Discettes, both sides used, 40 tracks each. You are then registered Newcomer-user and can turn to the authors whenever you are stuck in the game! A printed manual is also included in the package.
